Chris Coker

Research Analyst

Biography: 

Chris Coker is a graduate student in the sociology program at Humboldt State University. He was born and raised in Anderson, California. From 2005 to 2015, Chris worked for the City of Anderson in the Recreation Department as a program coordinator, working with local youth and adults in a variety of capacities. Through a lot of hard work, high fives, and positive energy, Chris made a special impact on many children’s and families lives in his hometown. Chris received his bachelor’s degree in sociology from Humboldt State University in 2015 and will receive his M.A. in 2018. Chris’s thesis is a seminal exploration of first time concentrated cannabis or “dab” users and is the first research project to apply social theory to this select facet of cannabis consumption and users experiences during first-time use. Chris plans to pursue a Ph.D. in public policy or public health and he looks forward to contributing to local rural communities through applied research done here at CCRP.
