Del Norte Performing Arts and Civic Center
The Performing Arts and Civic Center will create a cultural hub in remote Del Norte County, offering performance venues, educational spaces, and serving as an emergency response resource outside the tsunami zone. With architectural plans already submitted for approval, the project now seeks Catalyst Funds for operational planning. The Center will generate an estimated $1.9 million annually while celebrating diverse cultures and addressing social isolation in the underserved region.

Cultural Hub for an Underserved Region
The Performing Arts and Civic Center aims to create a cultural and civic hub in Del Norte County–one of California's most remote and underserved areas. The Center will provide versatile performance venues for music, theater, and dance, as well as educational spaces for workshops and after-school programs.
Emergency Response Resource
Located outside the tsunami zone and near the Fire Department, hospital, and regional airport, The Center will serve as a community hub for events and provide a safe space for relief efforts during crises.
Cultural Inclusion and Community Connection
The facility will address gaps in cultural infrastructure, foster community cohesion, and celebrate the region's diverse cultures, including Native, Hmong, and Latino communities.
Project Progress and Next Steps
Architectural plans have been completed and submitted to the Division of the State Architect for approval, and the site has undergone a preliminary assessment for construction feasibility. Catalyst Funds will support feasibility studies, a business plan, and staffing needs.
Economic and Social Impact
The Center will generate an estimated $1.9 million annually, boost tourism and local businesses, create jobs, address social isolation and mental health issues, enhance disaster preparedness, and promote equity through inclusive programming—ultimately creating a thriving, inclusive community while enhancing economic and social resilience for Del Norte County.
