RRRISE Catalyst Initiative: Health Workforce
Health and Caregiving
The Healthcare Education and Regional Training Hub (HEART Hub) in Lake County addresses regional healthcare workforce shortages through three comprehensive initiatives. The SPARK Program introduces 4,500-6,000 elementary and middle school students annually to healthcare careers through hands-on experiences and mentorship. Healthcare Workforce Development provides certification training for high school students and adults, including CNA, Medical Assistant, EMT, and Patient Care programs.
The Community Outreach Program enhances health literacy through culturally relevant programming, offering CPR training, parenting classes, and public health seminars while providing collaboration space for industry partners. Led by the Lake County Economic Development Corporation, these interconnected initiatives create a comprehensive pipeline that cultivates early interest in healthcare careers, develops skilled professionals, and empowers communities with essential health knowledge, ultimately strengthening Lake County's healthcare system and promoting wellness equity throughout the region.
